EFTC 30 Burst generator and Coupling network CDN 30 series
Description
The EFTC 30 Burst generator combines the advantages of a portable test system and a powerful controller with full size user interface. The user friendly operation of the EFTC 30 continues the new standard for user interface set by the ESDC 30
series of ESD generators.
The EFTC 30 Burst generator surpasses the IEC 61000-4-4 (IEC 801-4) in every aspect and meets the forthcoming proposal for the revised standard.
A range of unique features enables the user to both analyse fault situations of the EUT, and to produce a full compliance test according to the IEC standards.
Low weight and carrying handles on both the EFTC 30 and the CDN 30 series ensures portability and complete freedom of use.
In order to make the optimal system choice the generator has no built-in mains coupling network. A choice of external relay controlled coupling networks, CDN 31 (16A, 1 phase) or CDN 33 (16A, 3 phases) are available.
Main features of the EFTC 30:
61000-4-4, IEC 801-4 and draft for the new standard
Burst voltage 0.2 to 4.4 kV
Frequency range 500 Hz to 1.0 MHz
User friendly menu based operation
Programmable sequences
Library with test levels

Abstract continued ...
The Burst/Fast transient generator, normally referred to as Burst generator only, is a part of the immunity standards described by the International Electronic Commission (IEC). The IEC 61000-4-4 standard specifies a method of establishing a common
and reproducible basis for evaluating the performance of electric and electronic equipment when subjected to repetitive fast transients.
These pulses are injected into supply, signal and control ports to test the immunity of the EUT. The Burst 'train' consist of a number of pulses with narrow rise-time (5ns) followed by a pause before the next burst. Because of the steep edges of the pulses they create a
high level wide frequency spectra causing equipment to fail.
In real life these pulses are generated when interrupting large inductive loads e.g. motors, relays or indeed refrigerators.
The EFTC 30 Burst generator surpasses the IEC 61000-4-4 (IEC 801-4) in every aspect and meets the forthcoming proposal for the revised standard.
