History
The company Compliance Instruments was founded in 1987 - in the name of COTEC. Among the first products and services were developments of computer equipment and equipment for commercial advertising.

The two founders, René Sørensen and Jens H Nielsen, were long time colleagues in a large Danish electronics company, designing various electronic and electromechanical products before joining up in their new company. Among the experiences were those of EMC testing. Test equipment at that time - and even today - were characterized by being very heavy and having an unusually bad user interface. Dedicated to improve this trend Compliance Instruments were formed in 1994 - the name was changed and substantial resources and manpower were added. In August 2000 the owner ship of the company have been changed, and is now owned by Jens H Nielsen, and the name of the company is changed to Compliance Instruments ApS.

Products
The first product - an ESD generator - was launched on the marked in September 1995. Considerably effort was made to reduce the size and weight from the ‘normal’ 1200 grams of our competitors to just 440 grams. We believe the user friendly operation of the controller and the ease of handling the pistol sets a new standard for EMC equipment - and so do our customers !

Therefore, this line of user-interface has been continued in the new Burst generator for testing according to the IEC 61000-4-4 standards. The ESD and Burst generators are the first products in a planned line of EMC immunity test equipment.
